Screen Test Pro — Introduction
Screen Test Pro is a quick, privacy-conscious tool that runs right in your browser to check your display quality and device performance. No downloads, no accounts — just open it up and go. It's built as a plain static site that works smoothly on any device, from desktops to phones.
What you can do
- Dead pixel test: switch to full-screen solid colors to hunt down dead, stuck, or hot pixels. Flip through with a click, a tap, or the keyboard and inspect every inch of the panel.
- Gradient test: smooth ramps in grayscale and color, in any direction, to make banding and uneven backlighting show themselves.
- Test patterns: three classics from broadcast engineering — EBU colour bars (100/0/75/0), PM5544 (the PAL test card), and SMPTE color bars — each fullscreen, each with a note on what to look for.
- Performance benchmark: a scored particle benchmark in two tiers. Five Signature scenes push WebGL hard; the eight Classic scenes from the original Screen Test Pro are still here too, scored separately. You get a number, a tier, and per-scene results — with the methodology written down, not hand-waved.
- Device readout: resolution, pixel ratio, measured refresh rate, color depth, gamut, GPU and more — with each value labeled as detected or estimated, because the browser doesn't know everything.

Where your data stands
The screen tests run entirely on your machine and send nothing anywhere. The benchmark can submit one anonymous sample when a scored run finishes — score, coarse hardware family, screen numbers — so we can publish honest public stats about how real devices perform. You see the exact field list before the run starts, and "run without submitting" is always one click away. No account, no cookies for tracking, no IP addresses stored. Tips for accurate results
- Close heavy apps and spare tabs before benchmarking.
- Plug in, and switch off battery-saver modes — they throttle hard.
- Use your screen's native resolution and default refresh rate.
- Let a warm device cool down; thermals move scores more than people expect.
Corrections
If something we've published is wrong — a number in an article, a claim about how a panel technology works, anything — tell us and we'll fix it. Corrections are made in the article itself with the review date updated, and material fixes get a line in thechangelog. Write to admin at screentest.pro.
FAQs
Do you collect any user data?
Not while you test — the tools are local. If you finish a scored benchmark run and leave submission on, exactly one anonymous row is recorded, and you're shown its contents first. Skipping it changes nothing about your results.
Why might my performance score vary?
Browser version, OS updates, background apps, power mode, and heat all move the needle. A few percent run-to-run is normal; a big drop usually means thermal throttling — the results sheet flags that when we detect it.
How accurate are these online tests?
No browser tool, ours included, can measure your hardware the way a native lab benchmark can. What we can do is measure a browser workload honestly and tell you preciselywhat that does and doesn't mean.
I love the animations — can I just watch them?
Yes. Every scene is in the effects gallery for free play, fullscreen, no scoring, no time limit.
How do I report a problem or send feedback?
